Selection Process for RRB Exams

Selections to the above positions would consist of a two-stage of written tests - Preliminary & Mains. The written test would comprise of 100 to 120 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. RRB exam 2012 would consist of test sections - General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and reasoning.
In addition, qualifying Skill Test (Typing Test) will also be conducted for the post of Jr. Accounts Assistant cum Typist/Sr. Clerk Cum Typist & Aptitude test will be conducted for the post of Assistant Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
Railway recruitment board will conduct written examination for shortlisted candidates (according to merit). Candidate’s original certificates will be verified.
For engineering position written test will be of objective type which will be conducted 2 hours which has 150 questions. There is 1/3 negative marks for any wrong answer.

RRB RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR VARIOUS EXAMS

o  The selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of written  examination. In addition, Aptitude/Skill Test/Interview etc. may also be conducted wherever applicable. Short listed candidates will  be called for verification of the original documents according to  merit, availability of vacancies and reservation rules.

o  There shall be negative marking in written examination and marks  shall be deducted for each wrong answer @1/3 of the allotted  marks for each question.

o  The syllabus for the written examination will be generally in  conformity with the educational standards and/or technical  qualifications prescribed for the posts. The Questions will be of  objective type with multiple answers and likely to  include  questions pertaining to General Knowledge, General  English / General Hindi, General Arithmetic, Analytical and Quantitative Skills and those subjects covered as part of minimum educational/technical qualifications for the post.  The question  paper will be in English, Hindi and Urdu as well as in regional  languages prevails in the jurisdiction of each RRB. The duration of  the examination will be 1½ to 2 hours with approximately 100 to  150 questions.

o  The Railway Recruitment Board, at its discretion may hold  additional written test(s) and/or interview/skill test if considered  necessary for all or for a limited number of candidates as may be  deemed fit by Railway Recruitment Board.

o  The date, time and venue of the written examination and  Aptitude/Skill Test/ Interview will be fixed by the RRB and will be  intimated to the eligible candidates in due course. Request for  postponement of the examination/skill test/interview and  change  of center/venue will not be entertained under any circumstance.

o  Stages of examination are given against each post.  Based on the  performance of candidates in the examination, the candidates equal  to the number of vacancies will be called for document verification  in the main list. In addition 30% extra candidates are also called as  standby candidates and they are considered for empanelment only  if there is shortfall in empanelment from the main  list.  During  document verification, the candidates will have to  produce their original certificates.   No additional time will be given and the candidature of the candidates not producing their original  certificates on the date of verification is liable to be forfeited. 

o  The appointment of selected candidates is subject to his/her passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the  Railway Administration, final verification of educational and  community certificate and verification of antecedent/character of  the candidate.

IRCTC SELECTION PROCESS

The Written Test will comprise of 200 objective type questions for three hours duration with negative marking for wrong answers. Written test will comprise of two parts; Part-I will have 100 question having questions on General Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and proficiency in English language and Part- II will have 100 questions to adjudge the professional ability of the concerned discipline. Candidates have to qualify both in written test and interview separately to be placed in merit list for selection.

RRB Secunderabad Recruitment Procedure, Pattern And Exam Syllabus


RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE
1. All selections made by the Railway Recruitment Boards are purely based on merit position obtained by the candidates in the written examinations subject to reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Viva-voce tests (interviews) have been done away except in the four categories indicated in para 5 below.

2. All written examinations are of multiple choice objective type.There will be negative marking, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answser.

3. The syllabus for the written examinations is generally commensurate with the qualifications prescribed for the post.

4. The questions will be in General Knowledge/General Intelligence and Reasoning and Analytical abilities and in the technical/professional subjects wherever technical/professional qualifications are prescribed. In addition in certain categories like Clerks, Probationary Station Masters, Commercial/Traffic Apprentices/Junior Accounts Assistants etc., questions in English/Hindi language can also be asked.

5. The type of selections for some of the categories is given below. The list is illustrative and not exhaustive.

1. Safety category posts like Probationary Assistant Station Masters, Assistant Loco Pilot etc. Single Stage written Examination followed by Aptitude test. Candidates have to qualify in both the tests.
2. Non Technical Popular Categories like Clerks, Traffic and Commercial Apprentices, Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerks, Junior Accounts Assistants etc. Two Stage written examination. Final selection will be based on the merit position Obtaining in the second stage examination. Candidates competing for clerical categories have to pass a qualifying typewriting examination in Hindi or English.
3. Technical categories like Section Engineers, Junior Engineers, Technicians, Para-medical categories etc. Single stage written examination.
4. Raj Bhasha Assistants Single stage written examination followed by qualifying translation test.
5. Junior Stenographers Single stage written examination followed by shorthand test
6. Teachers, Law Assistants, Physiotherapists and Telephone Operators Single stage written examination followed by interview

Note: Even in categories where selection is through a single stage examination, the Railway Recruitment Board can prescribe a second stage examination depending upon the number of candidates, administrative exigencies etc. In such cases final selection will be on the basis of the merit position of the second stage examination.

After the final results are announced, the selected candidates have to report to the office of the Railway Recruitment Board on a nominated day for verification of their original certificates. If they are unable to attend the verification on the nominated day, they are given a second opportunity. If a candidate does not attend the verification even on the second occasion, his candidature is cancelled.

Candidature of candidates who cannot produce the necessary documentary proof in support of the minimum educational/technical qualifications, age, community etc. is also cancelled.

A final panel containing the list of selected candidates is thereafter prepared.

RRB Computerized Examination Process


INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

  1. Candidates should report to the venue of the examination with their Call letter for verification of identity at the reporting time mentioned in the Call letter. Candidates will not be permitted for the examination without production of the Call letter.
  2. Candidates should sign on the call letter in the presence of the invigilator in the space provided.
  3. In the unlikely event of printing a wrong photograph in the call letter, please approach RRB with a spare photo two days prior to the date of examination.
  4. The original foil of Call letter should be surrendered to the Invigilator. Candidate should retain only the counter foil portion.
  5. No candidate will be admitted to the examination hall after 10 minutes of their Examination time nor will they be allowed to leave the hall until the completion of the examination. After leaving the hall, they will not be allowed to re-enter.
  6. No separate question book / answer sheet will be issued.
  7. The examination will be on computer. Only mouse operation will be active.
  8. The question paper will be generally in English language only.
  9. There will be a practice session for 10 minutes before the main examination. Candidate should read the instructions displayed on the computer screen carefully before logging on to Question Paper.
  10. Examination will be of 90 minutes duration with 100 questions to be answered.
  11. Candidates have the options like ‘Attempt later’, which will help to utilize the time allotted judiciously.
  12. There will be four alternative answers to each question. Candidate can select the right answer by mouse click and click on to next question and so on.
  13. Every wrong answer will carry negative 1/3 mark.
  14. Candidates will be issued with working sheet for any manual calculations / working.
  15. Calculators, Slide rules, Log tables, mobile phones are strictly prohibited.
  16. A candidate who finishes the exam before time shall leave the hall only after completion of the examination session.
  17. SC/ST Candidates should sign on the “AUTHORITY TO TRAVEL” before commencing journey.
  18. Any failure to comply with the instructions will entail cancellation of candidature of the individual.
  19. In the case of unforeseen problems beyond the control of RRB and Institution, exams may be spilled over to next day. Hence the candidates should come prepared to stay from commencement of examination till the examination is over.
